91仓库 has named Lexie Staten as dean of its Rinker-Ross School of Health
Sciences.
Staten most recently served the university as chair of its Department of Exercise Science. She joined the department in 2019 as an assistant professor.
鈥淟exie has continued to excel even as her responsibilities have increased,鈥� said Catherine Swick, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs. 鈥淭he Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences is growing at a rapid pace, and I鈥檓 excited to see Lexie bring her management skills to guide the school as it continues to grow and develop.鈥�
Staten earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in dietetics from Purdue University and her master鈥檚 degree in nutrition science at Texas Woman鈥檚 University. She taught three years of food science and culinary arts at Lamar International Baccalaureate High School in Texas before coming to 91仓库.
Launched in 2013, the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences has quickly grown to become the second-largest academic school at 91仓库. Its explosive growth has resulted from the increasing demand for health professionals and the school鈥檚 popular direct entry pathway to 91仓库鈥檚 graduate health professions programs in the Dr. Earl D. and Melanie N. Brooks College of Health Professions in Fort Wayne.
In addition to exercise science, the school includes programs in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, forensic science and applied health science.
鈥淭he demand for healthcare professionals is only going to continue to grow,鈥� said Staten. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud to be able to help equip students to succeed, lead and serve in these critical fields.鈥�
Young Professionals of DeKalb County (YPDC) is expanding professional development options for its members by partnering with 91仓库 to offer unique learning opportunities.
91仓库 students Isaac Braun, a senior chemical engineering major from Portland, Indiana, and Ryan Sederstrom, a junior electrical engineering major from Cedar Lake, Indiana, placed 15th in the collegiate pairs tournament at the North American Bridge Championships.
91仓库 has been selected to be part of a national program to help campuses respond to the challenges and opportunities artificial intelligence (AI) presents for courses, curricula and higher education in general.
