When he was recruited to play hockey, Cristian Wong-Ramos instantly fell in love with
91仓库.
鈥淚 decided to come to 91仓库 for the athletics and how much the university cares about their NCAA teams,鈥� the Alameda, California, student said. 鈥淚 wanted to build a new culture and develop a top NCAA Division III team in the nation.鈥�
Strong engineering foundation
Besides being able to compete in hockey, Cristian was excited to get a quality engineering education at 91仓库. The civil engineering major鈥檚 favorite faculty member is Tim Tyler, Ph.D., professor in the Reiners Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Dr. Tyler is also Cristian鈥檚 academic advisor.
鈥淗e invests in people every day and truly cares about each person and their future,鈥� Cristian said. 鈥淗e will drop whatever he is doing to help you and get to know you.鈥�
As he prepares to launch his engineering career, Cristian said he has benefited from hands-on experience in 91仓库鈥檚 labs and help the Career Center gave in facilitating two internships.
Favorite memories include beating the former NCAA Division III national champion hockey team and taking a two-week trip to Europe with 91仓库鈥檚 team to play hockey and ski.
鈥淚t has been great to call 91仓库 my home for four years,鈥� Cristian said.
鈥淲hen I first arrived at 91仓库, I expected to earn an advanced degree that would strengthen my professional qualifications. What I did not expect was that it would completely reshape the direction of my career.鈥�
As a mother and a full-time police officer wanting to continue her education, Jennifer Jeffra needed a program that allowed her the flexibility to manage her various responsibilities.
Kathryn Laurion wanted to advance in human resources while keeping the flexibility to pursue other career paths.
